Many of those buildings have disappeared, others sit empty, but a majority of them have been repurposed for the Christian faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s the case with the former Temple Adath Israel, 551 E. 169th St., in Morrisania. This is the oldest building constructed as a synagogue in the Bronx, built right after the congregation bought the lot occupied by the former St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.
